David Veale

David is the author of Overcoming Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Manage Your Mood, along with Rob Willson. He is a consultant psychiatrist in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy at the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and the Priory Hospital, North London. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London. He is an accredited cognitive behaviour therapist and President of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies 2006-8. He has about 50 publications to his name, accessible through his website www.veale.co.uk. He has been helping people with depression and anxiety disorders for more than 15 years.

Derrick Silove

Professor Silove is the author of Overcoming Panic and the Overcoming Panic and Agoraphobia Self-help Course, along with Vijaya Manicavasagar. He is a clinical psychiatrist and Director of the Centre for Population Mental Health Research and the Psychiatry Research and Teaching Unit at the School of Psychiatry, the University of New South Wales. He has worked for many years in the area of anxiety and traumatic stress, his main area of clinical work, research, service development and teaching.

Frances Cole

Dr Frances Cole is a GP and pain rehabilitation specialist working in West Yorkshire. In 1996 she developed a primary care-run pain rehabilitation programme based on cognitive behavioural therapy principles. She continues to run this service and works in clinical health psychology at Bradford Teaching Hospitals using CBT in a wide range of mental and physical health problems. She has developed a pain health needs assessment tool that won a NHS Modernisation award in 2005. Frances is a past the chair of the British Pain Society Pain Management Programme Special Interest Group whose current focus is on measuring patient outcomes and Pain Management.

Greg Lockwood

Greg Lockwood is a partner at venture capital firm Piton Capital. He has a Masters of Management degree from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, and is the co-author of SUPERCONNECT with Richard Koch.

Hazel Howden-Leach

Hazel Howden-Leach is the author of Overcoming Chronic Pain, along with Frances Cole, Helen Macdonald and Catherine Carus. She works at the University of Liverpool's School of Tropical Medicine as Educational Technologist/Technical Advisor, with respect to the development of health-related educational materials.

Helen Kennerley

Dr Helen Kennerley works as a consultant at the highly regarded Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre. In 2002 she was shortlisted by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies for the award of most influential female cognitive therapist in Britain. Helen Macdonald

Helen Macdonald is the author of Overcoming Chronic Pain, along with Frances Cole, Catherine Carus and Hazel Howden-Leach. She is a cognitive behavioural psychotherapist and obtained a Master's Degree in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy, with a dissertation examining the effectiveness of assisted self-help for chronic pain. She was recognized as a Chartered Health Psychologist in March 2004.

Jo Haigh

Jo Haigh is a corporate financier who has owned her own company for nearly ten years, helping people buy and sell businesses. She was named South Yorkshire Business Woman of the Year in 2005.

Mary Burgess

Dr Burgess, author of Overcoming Chronic Fatigue, has worked as a therapist in the area of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) for more than ten years. She is both a clinician and a researcher, at Guy's, King's and St Thomas' School of Medicine in London. Much of her research has been into ways of bringing treatment to CFS patients who, because of their illness, have difficulty attending her clinics. She is currently working as a cognitive behavioural psychotherapist at the School's Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Research and Treatment Unit.

Melanie Fennell

Melanie Fennell is one of the pioneers of cognitive therapy for depression in the UK and developed the Oxford Diploma in Cognitive Therapy and Oxford/MSc in Advanced Cognitive Therapy. She is a research clinician in the Oxford Mindfulness Centre and teaches on the Masters Degree in MBCT in Oxford University.

Paul Gilbert

Professor Paul Gilbert is the author of the bestselling Overcoming Depression and was previously Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Derby and Head of Specialty, Adult Mental Health for the Southern Derbyshire Mental Health Trust. Peter Cooper

Peter Cooper is Professor of Psychology at the University of Reading. He is also a practising clinical psychologist and Series Editor of the 'Overcoming' series. Rob Willson

Rob is the author of Overcoming Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Manage Your Mood, along with David Veale. He is a cognitive behavioural therapist in private practice. He also works as a tutor at Goldsmiths College, University of London. He holds an honours degree in Psychology, an MSc in Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy and a Postgraduate Diploma in Social and Behavioural Health Studies. He has been involved in treating people with depression and anxiety for the past twelve years.

Rory Clark

RORY CLARK qualified as a land agent after studying at the Royal Agricultural College. He worked on the Badminton Estate in Gloucestershire and on the Althorp Estate in Northamptonshire. He is now a land agent for the Forestry Commission and lives on the southern edge of the Derbyshire Peak District.His books are based on the wide variety of people he has met through his life as a land agent on some of the finest landed estates in the country.

Trudie Chalder

Professor Chalder is the author of Overcoming Chronic Fatigue, along with Mary Burgess. She is currently Professor of CBT and Director of the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Research and Treatment Unit at King's College, London. She has worked as a researcher and clinician in the area of CFS in adults and children for about 19 years. She and her colleagues developed the CBT treatment of CFS, which has been evaluated in a number of clinical research trials with positive outcomes.

Vijaya Manicavasagar

Vijaya is the author of Overcoming Panic and the Overcoming Panic and Agoraphobia Self-help Course, along with Derrick Silove. She is Senior Clinical Psychologist and Associate Professor at the Black Dog Institute, School of Psychiatry at the University of New South Wales in Australia. As the Director of Psychological Services at the Black Dog Institute, she's responsible for developing and implementing a range of education programs for training mental health professionals in the diagnosis and the use of CBT for anxiety and depressive disorders. She has specialized in the development of cognitive behaviour therapy programmes and co-authored several treatment manuals.
