Iron Flame Fan Art: Terms and Conditions

  1. 1. This Competition is being organised by Little, Brown Book Group Limited (the ‘Publisher’), Carmelite House, 50 Victoria Embankment, London EC4Y 0DZ.

 

  1. 2. The Competition is for the chance for the winner (the ‘Winner’) to have their artwork (the ‘Artwork’) included on the end pages of the hardback edition of the book Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros (the ‘Book’), to be published in November 2023, to receive 5 free copies of the hardback edition of the Book with their Artwork included, and a fee of £650 on publication of the hardback edition in which the Artwork is included for the use of the Artwork in the book (the ‘Prize’). The Artwork may also be included in any subsequent print run editions, including in paperback format.

 

  1. 3. The Prize will be awarded to the entrant who submits the best Artwork, judged against the Judging Criteria (as described in Clause 4 below), and who meets the Entry Criteria (as described in Clause 5 below). Entrants must also submit the Stills (as defined in Clause 6 below) with the Artwork.

 

  1. 4. Each entry will be judged on how well it fits the following criteria (the ‘Judging Criteria’). The Judging Criteria are as follows:
  • Based on a character, setting or scene from the book Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
  • Meets the following art and design specification:
  • Be created in the CMYK colour model only – not in RGB and should not use a pantone of any kind
  • The ink density must be under 320%
  • Fit the template provided WHICH CAN BE DOWNLOADED FROM HERE
  • Include bleed and trim marks
  • Any important art details shouldn’t be placed where it will fall in the hinge of the book as the endpapers are glued down so there is a natural crease
  • Is under 10MB for upload and storage purposes – a full resolution image will be required for the winning design
  • Created by the entrant and is not AI generated nor is in any part AI generated (i.e. is all the entrant’s own work)
  • Considered by the Judges to the best fit, represent and reflect the world of Fourth Wing

 

  1. 5. In order to be eligible for the Competition, entrants must meet the following criteria (the ‘Entry Criteria’). Entrants must be aged 18 or over and resident in the United Kingdom. The Competition is not open to employees of the Publisher, their families, or to anyone professionally connected to the Competition or connected to the Judges either themselves or through their families.

 

  1. 6. Entrants to the Competition are required to submit Artwork that meets the Judging Criteria along with a PDF file which includes 5 stills showing the development of the Artwork (the ‘Stills’). The Winner’s Stills may be used in connection with the advertising, marketing and promotion of the Book.

 

  1. 7. Artwork and Stills must be submitted via the Competition landing page: https://www.littlebrown.co.uk/landing-page/iron-flame-fan-art-competition/. Entries may only be submitted between 17:00 PM BST on Wednesday 5th July 2023 and 11.59pm BST on Thursday 10th August 2023. Any entries received outside these specified times and dates and any entries that do not meet the requirements of these Terms and Conditions will not be eligible for entry to the Competition.

 

  1. 8. Each entry will be judged on how well it fits the Judging Criteria.

 

  1. 9. The Winner will be chosen from the entries received in accordance with these terms and conditions by Fourth Wing and Iron Flame author Rebecca Yarros, What Happens on Vacation author Jo Watson and Icebreaker author Hannah Grace (the ‘Judges’) from a list of 50 shortlisted entries chosen by members of the Publisher’s marketing, PR, editorial, design and production teams. The winning entry will be the one that best meets the Judging Criteria. The Judges’ decision for the selection of the Winner is final.

 

  1. 10. The Winner will be offered the Prize.

 

  1. 11. If no or insufficient suitable entries that meet the Judging Criteria set out above can be found, the Publisher reserves the right to not select a Winner from the entries received.

 

  1. 12. By submitting their Artwork and Stills, the entrant undertakes and warrants that the Artwork and the Stills consist of their own original work and will not infringe the intellectual property rights of anyone. If a third party’s material is used, such as lyrics of a song, the entrant will secure the necessary permission and will provide it to the Publisher on request. The entrant further warrants that the Artwork and Stills will not contain any material which is defamatory, private or confidential or which is unlawful in any way. Any entry in breach of this Clause will be disqualified from being considered for the Competition at any stage.

 

  1. 13. By entering the Competition, entrants hereby grant to the Publisher for the full term of copyright a non-exclusive, royalty free, worldwide and for all languages, licence to copy, adapt, edit, distribute, publish, sublicense, and in any and all other ways use their entry for any purpose, in any manner and in all media now known or hereinafter devised. The Publisher will pay the Winner a fee of £650 for the use of the Artwork in the Book, payment to be made on publication of the hardback edition in which the Artwork is included. The name of the Winner will be appropriately credited on the copyright page of the hardback edition of the Book and on the Artwork itself. For the avoidance of doubt, the Publisher is under no obligation to make any use of the entries and the Publisher shall make no payment to any entrant for any use of their entry. Following publication of the Book, the Publisher shall no longer be entitled to use any Artwork or Stills other than the Winner’s (use of which shall be in accordance with this Clause).

 

  1. 14. The name of the Winner will be announced on Thursday 17th August 2023 on Rebecca Yarros’ Instagram page (the Publisher’s website. The Winner will be informed in advance by email. The Winner’s name may also be publicised in other media or on social media sites. Following the announcement of the Winner, the Publisher will further be in touch with the Winner to discuss and arrange the Prize.

 

  1. 15. An entrant may only submit one entry. Further entries will be disqualified. Entries will not be accepted via agents, third parties or in bulk.

 

  1. 16. The Publisher is not responsible for contacting or responding to entrants who provide unclear or incomplete information or for entries that are lost, misdirected, delayed or destroyed.

 

  1. 17. The Publisher reserves the right to (i) cancel the Competition; (ii) alter the details of the Prize or judging panels and/or (iii) alter any other details of the Competition without notice but the Publisher will try to avoid creating any undue disappointment. No cash alternative or other alternatives to the Prize will be provided.

 

  1. 18. Any personal data submitted by entrants, including their names and email addresses (the ‘Information’), will be used by the Publisher (who is the Data Controller) for the purposes of this Competition, including without limitation for the purpose of judging the entries and arranging the Prize, in accordance with these Terms and Conditions and in accordance with Publisher’s Privacy Notice which can be found here. The Information will be deleted within six months of the announcement of the Winner.

 

  1. 19. No purchase is necessary to enter the Competition.

 

  1. 20. By entering the Competition, each entrant agrees to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

 

  1. 21. These Terms and Conditions and any disputes or claims (including non-contractual disputes or claims) arising out of these Terms and Conditions shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of England, whose courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
