Compellingly strange yet accessible ... a character-driven, morally grey tale of hope and potential redemption — PUBLISHERS WEEKLY, starred review
Part thriller, part mystery and part phantasmagoric journey across a strange yet not-too-distant future, and reminiscent at times of both Roger Zelazny and Nnedi Okorafor, Rosewater is the hardboiled, Nigerian alien invasion story you always wanted — Lavie Tidhar
This thrilling, ambitious novel offers a deftly woven and incisive blend of science fiction, psychology, action, and mystery. Highly recommended — Kate Elliott
One of the most imaginative alien invasion scenarios I have come across — Aliette de Bodard, Nebula and BSFA award-winning author

Private investigator Jasmine Sharp's father was murdered before she was born, and her mother went to self-sacrificing lengths in order to shield her from the world in which he moved. Since her mother's death, all she has been able to learn is his first name - and that only through a strange bond she has forged with the man who killed him: Glen Fallan. But when Fallan is arrested for the murder of a criminal her mother knew since childhood, Jasmine is finally forced to enter his domain: a place where violence is a way of life and vengeance spans generations.Detective Superintendent Catherine McLeod has one major Glaswegian gangster in the mortuary and another in the cells for killing him - which ought to be cause for celebration. Catherine is not smiling, however. From the moment she discovered a symbol daubed on the victim's head, she has understood that this case is far more dangerous than it appears on the surface: deeper than skin, darker than blood; something that could threaten her family and end her career. As one battles her demons and the other chases her ghosts, these two very different detectives will ultimately confront the secrets that have entangled both of their fates since before Jasmine was even born.

Beyond Temptation

Audrey Boss, Sophie Boss
Authors:
Audrey Boss, Sophie Boss

In Beyond Temptation Sophie and Audrey Boss offer a radical alternative to the tried and tested methods used to combat overeating which either encourage women to rely on willpower alone, or legitimise overeating by providing lists of 'free foods' on which women are actively encouraged to binge. This book doesn't rely on NLP, CBT or life coaching techniques, but instead draws on the authors' own experiences as two overweight and unhappy overeaters and their ten years of experience working with thousands of failed dieters in the 'Beyond Chocolate' workshops and the successful techniques used in their newly established 'Stop Overeating' workshops to offer women a practical, sustainable approach to stopping overeating and achieving long term weight loss.

A Mountain In Tibet

Charles Allen
Authors:
Charles Allen

Throughout the East there runs a legend of a great mountain at the centre of the world, where four rivers have their source. Charles Allen traces this legend to Western Tibet where there stands Kailas, worshipped by Hindus and Buddhists alike as the home of their gods and the navel of the world. Close by are the sources of four mighty rivers: the sacred Ganges, the Indus, the Sutlej and Tsangpo-Brahmaputra.For centuries Kailas remained an enigma to the outside world. Then a succession of remarkable men took up the challenge of penetrating the hostile, frozen wastelands beyond the Western Himalayas, culminating in the great age of discovery, the final years of the Victorian era.A Mountain in Tibet is an extraordinary story of exploration and high adventure, full of the excitement and colour expected from the author of Plain Tales from the Raj.

Vanishing Cornwall

Daphne Du Maurier
Authors:
Daphne Du Maurier

'There was a smell in the air of tar and rope and rusted chain, a smell of tidal water. Down harbour, around the point, was the open sea. Here was the freedom I desired, long sought-for, not yet known. Freedom to write, to walk, to wander, freedom to climb hills, to pull a boat, to be alone . . . I for this, and this for me.'Daphne du Maurier lived in Cornwall for most of her life. Its rugged coastline, wild terrain and tumultuous weather inspired her imagination, and many of her works are set there, including Rebecca, Jamaica Inn and Frenchman's Creek. In Vanishing Cornwall she celebrates the land she loved, exploring its legends, its history and its people, eloquently making a powerful plea for Cornwall's preservation.

The Codgers' Kama Sutra

Ian Baker
Authors:
Ian Baker

What is the Kama Sutra? Is it a spiritual text written by a visionary man of wisdom in India almost two millennia ago? Or is it the world's first mucky book? Well, it's the former - it's a spiritual text written by a visionary man of wisdom in India almost two millennia ago. Though shocking for its time, the Kama Sutra has gone on to become the world's most respected guide book on all matters sexual, and is now on top of the wardrobes or under the beds of over sixty percent of the world's teenage boys.It is a common and misconceived belief among the younger generations that sex is something not only void in the minds of our senior citizens, but is most likely physically impossible for those who are at or beyond retirement age. The glorious truth may come as a bit of a shock to the youth of today - it may even conjure up images in their minds best left 'till after lunch! The world's oldies are sexually active. New and exciting research has uncovered startling new evidence that oldies are still 'at it', and still 'do it' whenever they don't have a bad back. Can it be true? Are our most senior citizens getting their wrinkly legs over? If you are an older person, take heart - there's a lot of dusty action out there. Sex in the twilight years, though similar in mechanics to the couplings of youth, is in fact vastly different. This book exposes the secret world of grey love and covers every aspect of senior congress - from geriatric anatomy and attraction, through to mating rituals, sex positions, post-sex heart condition medication and proper service and care of pace makers.
