CATHY CRESWELL is a professor of developmental clinical psychology based in the school of psychology and clinical language sciences at the University of Reading and an honorary consultant clinical psychologist and joint director of the University of Reading Anxiety and Depression in Young People (AnDY) clinical research unit.

Charles Young

Dr Charles Young is based in the Department of Psychology at Rhodes University, South Africa, where he has co-ordinated professional training programmes in clinical and counselling psychology. He previously worked at the Primary Care Psychological Treatment Service in Cambridge, UK. Much of his work involves the provision of brief psychological approaches to alleviate anxiety and depression. He helped to develop a pioneering service in primary care based on self-help approaches to help alleviate a range of common psychological problems.

Choden

Formally a monk for seven years within the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, CHODEN completed a three year, three month retreat in 1997 and has been a practicing Buddhist since 1985. Born as Sean McGovern, he is originally from South Africa where he trained as a lawyer and learned meditation under the guidance of Rob Nairn, an internationally renowned Buddhist teacher.Choden is now involved in developing secular mindfulness and compassion programmes drawing upon the wisdom and methods of the Buddhist tradition, as well as contemporary insights from psychology and neuroscience. He is an honorary fellow of the University of Aberdeen and teaches on their Postgraduate Study Programme in Mindfulness (MSc) that is the first of its kind to include compassion in its curriculum. He lives on the Isle of Arran.

Chris Irons

Dr Chris Irons is a clinical psychologist, researcher, author and trainer. He is co-director of Balanced Minds (www.balancedminds.com), a London-based organisation providing compassion focused psychological interventions for individuals and organisations. He is the author of a number of books, including The Compassionate Mind Workbook.
