    It's Time!

    By Bruce Buffer
    Authors:
    Bruce Buffer
If you're reading these words, chances are that you, like me, are a fan of the great sport we call MMA. And if you're a fan, then you probably recognize my face. Yeah, that's right-I'm that guy you see at every UFC match, spinning around and roaring into the microphone and getting up in fighters' grills. Okay, so I might not be the most subtle or refined announcer in the business. But I hope I communicate my passion for the sport in a way no other announcer does. I'll say it again: Passion. Because that's what this book is about. In these pages, I want to tell you about the passion that first led me to bet everything on this sport of ours, way back when MMA was outlawed in half the country and there wasn't a dime to be made on it. I want to tell you how that passion all started, with my larger-than-life father, a former Marine Drill Sergeant who, by the time I was ten, had taught me to play poker and blackjack, field-strip a Luger pistol blindfolded, and recite poetry. He was a man who thought nothing of confronting a group of thugs armed with nothing but his fists-and who expected the same strength and honor from his sons. I want to take you inside the incredible brotherhood that makes up the UFC as nobody ever has before, to tell you about the bond we all share and the crazy times I've had over the years with guys like Randy Couture, Tito Ortiz, Chuck Liddell, BJ Penn, and Jon "Bones" Jones. I want to give you my Octagon-side insights on many of the big fights you remember, and just maybe, to tell you about a few memorable fights that took place outside of the octagon, too-from my own sparring match with a youngster named Royce Gracie back before the phrase "Mixed Martial Arts" even existed, to some other brawls you might've heard about. And I want to tell you about the remarkable, late-life meeting with the celebrity brother I never knew I had-a brother whose existence my parents had never once breathed a word about!-that helped inspire me to chase my own dreams of standing up in the Octagon. Surprising stuff from the guy in the fancy tux, right? And that's just the start. There's a lot you don't know about me yet. And now... IT'S TIME! I told you.

    Authors:
    Peter Kurth
Known by many as the greatest dancer of her time, Isadora Duncan was the matriarch of creative self-expression. A pioneer in the dance world and the women's movement, her name is synonymous with originality, spontaneity, and intrigue. She was the first woman to break simultaneously the barriers of art, love, fashion, sex, religion and marriage. Dorothy Parker christened her 'Duncan disorderly', praising her as 'magnificent, generous, gallant and fated'. Finally, here is a biography that does justice to the life of this unforgettable and exceptional woman. Hers was a life marked by tragedy - she never recovered from the accidental drowning of her two small children and was plagued by alcoholism. She died in a car accident in 1927; her scarf became entangled in the wheel of her car during a joy ride on the French Riviera and she was strangled.Never before has the life of Isadora Duncan been given such thorough and sweeping treatment.

The Impossible Just Takes A Little Longer

    By Art Berg
    Authors:
    Art Berg
I have never met anyone else who has had a greater impact on people's lives through the sheer force of his own life's experience.' Anthony Robbins. Since then he has run two multimillion dollar corporations and been inducted into the Speakers' Hall of Fame. He has addressed hundreds of Fortune 500 companies and organisations, including American Express, and travelled 200,000 miles each year to do so. In 1993 he set a world record by being the first quadriplegic of his level to race a 325-mile ultra-marathon. He also defied the doctors by marrying and becoming the father of two children. The Impossible Just Takes a Little Longer is Art's inspiring story of his perseverance against the odds and the ways of thinking that enabled him to achieve all he has. In Defense Of Affirmative Action

    By Barbara R. Bergmann
    Authors:
    Barbara R. Bergmann
At a time when quotas and preferences are under attack nationwide, Barbara Bergmann courageously show that without the help of affirmative action America will never be able to attain a truly race-blind and sex-blind society, for it is naive to imagine that the abolition of affirmative action will lead to a system based solely on ability. Women and minorities do in fact need assistance in cases where prejudice or habit leads to preference for white males in all openings. Free of the posturing that has so often degraded this debate, In defence of Affirmative Action is a clarion call to maintain affirmative action as a just and indispensable solution to a chronic problem in American society.

    I Rode With Jeb Stuart

    By H. B. Mcclellan
    Authors:
    H. B. Mcclellan
Major General J. E. B. Stuart (1833-1864) was one of the Confederacy's greatest horsemen, soldiers, and heroes. As early as First Manassas (Bull Run) he was contributing significantly to the Confederate victory he subsequently displayed his daring and brilliance in the battles of Second Manassas, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, and Brandy Station, the most significant cavalry battle of the war, and Stuart's finest moment. General Lee depended on Stuart for knowledge of the enemy, for, as he said, Stuart never brought him a piece of false information. But Stuart was mortally wounded at Yellow Tavern in May 1864. Not since the death of Stonewall Jackson had the South sustained so great a personal loss his rollicking, infectious gaiety and hard fighting were sorely missed in the grim last days of Lee's army. By all accounts, I Rode with Jeb Stuart is the most reliable and persuasive portrait of Stuart offered by a contemporary, and it is indispensable for any thorough knowledge of the great Confederate cavalryman.
