The Case of the Fool

By E. V. Harte

  • Downloadable audio file
  • £P.O.R.

The second novel in a contemporary new series from Daisy Waugh, writing under a pseudonym, featuring middle-aged Dolly Greene who lives in Barnes, South West London, and solves mysteries with help from her Tarot cards.

Another mystery for the Tarot detective.

Tarot reader Dolly Greene, returning from a Very Happy Holiday in St Lucia with her hot new police sergeant boyfriend, arrives home to find a surly Russian girl waiting for a reading. Marina is young and beautiful but oddly charmless - and her cards reveal nothing but conflict, misery . . . and death. Dolly knows she should feel concerned, but the girl is so disagreeable she's only too relieved when the reading is over and she can escape to catch up with her daughter and neighbours.

And what news! During Dolly's two week absence squatters have taken over No.7, and a mysterious Brazilian woman has moved into No.3. Dolly would prefer to forget about the Russian beauty's malign reading . . . but, like ripples radiating from a stone tossed into Barnes pond, Marina's cards come back to disturb Dolly and all those around her - and Death will surely leave his calling card for someone on Tinderbox Lane.

Praise for The Prime of Ms Dolly Greene:

'This book is a must read for any Tarot enthusiast or indeed, any whodunnit fan.' Avril Price, Tarot Consultant and Senior Tutor, College of Psychic Studies, London

'Harris draws the guilty and the innocent into an engrossing tale while inventing a heroine as capable and complex as P. D. James's Cordelia Gray' (Publishers Weekly)In the eighth book in bestselling author Charlaine Harris's compelling mystery series, Aurora Teagarden, 'a genuine steel magnolia' (Booklist) will have to use all of her southern wiles to investigate a murder within her own family . . . But Roe's stepsister-in-law Poppy has climbed her way up the waiting list of the group - only to die on the day she's supposed to be inducted. What makes Poppy's murder even worse are the rumors of infidelity on both sides of the marriage swirling around town. To find the killer, Roe must determine if the sordid stories are true. Suspects abound, and the things she uncovers make her question her own heart, but her passion for the truth drives her on: into the path of the cold-blooded killer . . . Tasha Alexander
Authors:

A dance with death...After the final curtain of Swan Lake, an animated crowd exits the Mariinsky theatre brimming with excitement. But outside the scene is somber. A ballerina's body lies face down in the snow, blood splattered like rose petals over the costume of the Swan Queen. The crowd is silenced by a single cry - "Nemetseva is dead!" Among the theatergoers is Lady Emily, accompanying her dashing husband Colin in Russia on assignment from the Crown. But it soon becomes clear that Colin isn't the only one with work to do. When the dead ballerina's aristocratic lover comes begging for justice, Emily must apply her own set of skills to discover the rising star's murderer. Her investigation takes her on a dance across the stage of Tsarist Russia, from the opulence of the Winter Palace, to the modest flats of ex-ballerinas and the locked attics of political radicals. A mysterious dancer in white follows closely behind, making waves through St. Petersburg with her surprise performances and trail of red scarves. Is it the sweet Katenka, Nemetseva's childhood friend and favorite rival? The ghost of the murdered étoile herself? Or, something even more sinister?
