I admire Vidyamala Burch tremendously. Her approach could save your life - and give iot back to you'.
Jon Kabat-Zinn, bestselling author of FULL CATASTROPHE LIVING

Vidyamala Burch has suffered with chronic pain for over 30 years due to congenital weakness, a car accident and unsuccessful surgery. She is now a wheelchair user. In this positive and reassuring new book, she identifies that it is our resistance to pain which causes it to be so distressing and miserable. We don't want it to be happening to us, and we wish we weren't experiencing it.

LIVING WELL WITH PAIN AND ILLNESS is a practical guide to living with and managing chronic pain through the principle of mindfulness. By developing a calm awareness of your body and your pain, you can learn to let go of the frustration and suffering that you associate the pain with, and the pain will reduce.Vidyamala Burch uses easy-to follow breathing techniques and powerful mindfulness meditations which teach you how to live in the present moment. LIVING WELL WITH PAIN AND ILLNESS includes helpful illustrations, offers effective ways of managing chronic pain and is a must-read for all sufferers.

What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Fibromyalgia (Fourth Edition)

Claudia Craig Marek, R. Paul St. Amand
Authors:
Claudia Craig Marek, R. Paul St. Amand

In the two decades since this book was first published, diagnoses of this disease have exploded. Most patients with fibromyalgia are on as astonishing array of medications--sometimes taking over 10 different medications and supplements a day to treat symptoms ranging from muscle pain and fatigue to hypoglycemia, IBS, and chronic candidiasis--and they still can't control their pain. What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Fibromyalgia is still the only protocol that actually treats the condition, reduces drug dependency, and offers an actual cure. The fourth edition goes deeper into understanding the disease and the early intervention options that are available. With special attention paid to fatigue and pain management, Dr. St. Armand goes into great detail about the big issues surrounding fibromyalgia today, including:A close look at supplements, including CBS oil--an unregulated market without the same scientific rigor as most medicationsGuaifenesin as a drug that does work, eliminating symptoms and restoring normal life to an astonishing 90 percent of the fibromyalgia sufferersA discussion of pharmaceuticals in treatment, and why "medical Band-Aids" won't treat the disease

The Setpoint Diet

Jonathan Bailor
Authors:
Jonathan Bailor

Your body fights to keep you within a range of about 10 pounds, also known as your "set point weight." While approximately 50% of your set point is affected by genetics, the rest is up to you, and with The Setpoint Diet, you can put the latest in data science to personal use, reprogramming your body from the inside out, lowering your set point, and ending that battle for good. In the New York Times bestseller The Calorie Myth, former Microsoft programmer turned wellness expert Jonathan Bailor explained a radically different approach to weight loss and health, focused on food and exercise quality rather than calorie quantity to burn fat and boost health more easily. Since that book's publication, Bailor founded the SANESolution, a weight loss company that has reached millions of people. With the benefit of data from more than 15,000 people who have already achieved dramatic weight loss results through Bailor's personalized programs, he has created a 21-day, step-by-step program to get started with the set point way of eating and exercising.

George Courtauld
Authors:
George Courtauld

'An excellent stocking filler' SpectatorThree Men on a Diet is the very funny and brutally honest story of three mighty men with nothing to gain and so much to lose: a diet book with a difference.Three Men on a Diet is the story of George, Reggie and Sebastian, three middle-aged friends and food- and drink-lovers, learning how to lower their calorie intake without losing their joie de vivre.Determined to improve his looks and health before it's too late (and after being told that he looked like a pregnant bulldog), Reggie persuades the others to join him on a five-month quest to shed three stone. Each has his own degree of cynicism, commitment and willingness to compromise on breakfast, parties and alcohol.Amidst the bewildering array of information on offer (what is a carb? What is saturated fat? How many units in a bottle of wine?), together they learn how to navigate stumbling blocks such as mayonnaise, chocolate and cheese, and support each other through fortnightly weigh-ins and varied levels of success with the Fast Diet, the Atkins Diet and others. At the very least, they hope to give up snoring and rekindle their love lives.Join the trio on their journey as they learn the truth about dieting. This hilarious and realistic guide rips up the rule books: it is an anti-diet book for those who enjoy the finer things in life.

For parents with toddlers and older children, Sarah includes advice on picky eating and food refusal, overeating, snacking and navigating eating at school, while parents of tweens and teens will find information on dieting, peer pressure, promoting a positive body image and preparing children for future eating independence. The Model Method

Hollie Grant
Authors:
Hollie Grant

'The Model Method's effective combination of recipes and workouts will leave you feeling stronger, healthier and happier. Hollie is one of the best task-masters on the fitness scene, with a refreshing, balanced approach' Sweaty Betty'The new body coach on the block' StyleNourish, sweat and strengthen your way to lifelong wellness with award-winning Pilates instructor and chef Hollie Grant's balanced recipes and workouts.Hollie started The Model Method online plan after years of teaching her private clients so anyone can carry out the plan, anywhere. This beautiful book will follow on from the plan, showing the reader how to Nourish, Sweat and Strengthen for a healthier, stronger lifestyle. Nourish will provide readers with delicious and balanced recipes with easy-to-source ingredients to encourage readers to eat from all the food groups unless medically advised not to. As a former chef Hollie is strongly against 'diets' and feels that we should eat to nourish our bodies, not starve them. The Sweat part of the plan will be split into three key areas of the body so that the workout can be personalised to the readers' goals or weaknesses. All the workouts will include elements of both Pilates and HIIT. Pilates is amazing at toning and fixing postural issues but does not address the incredible health benefits you tend to only get from HIIT (including reduced risk of diabetes, heart disease and obesity). Strengthen provides Pilates exercises and descriptions of technique, progressions and regressions, muscles activated and why you would carry out that exercise. The book is designed to be personalised so will also teach the reader about their body, posture types and muscle imbalances, and which Pilates technique would be best for them.Above all, The Model Method is about how our bodies function and perform, rather than how they look, in order to encourage a healthy relationship with food and exercise.

Walking with Peety

Eric O'Grey
Authors:
Eric O'Grey

Eric was 150 pounds overweight, depressed, and sick. After a lifetime of failed diet attempts, and the onset of type 2 diabetes due to his weight, Eric went to a new doctor, who surprisingly prescribed a shelter dog. And that's when Eric met Peety: an overweight, middle-aged, and forgotten dog who, like Eric, had seen better days. The two adopted each other and began an incredible journey together, forming a bond of unconditional love that forever changed their lives. Over the next year, just by going on walks, playing together, and eating plant-based foods, Eric lost 150 pounds, and Peety lost 25. As a result, Eric reversed his diabetes, got off all medication, and became happy and healthy for the first time in his life-eventually reconnecting with and marrying his high school sweetheart. WALKING WITH PEETY is for anyone who is ready to make a change in his or her life, and for everyone who knows the joy, love, and hope that dogs can bring. This is more than a tale of mutual rescue. This is an epic story of friendship and strength.

Healing Back Pain

John E. Sarno M.D.
Authors:
John E. Sarno M.D.

Dr John E. Sarno is a medical pioneer whose programme has helped thousands of patients overcome their back conditions - without drugs or serious surgery. Using his latest research into TMS (Tension Myositis Syndrome), Dr Sarno goes one step further: after identifying stress and other psychological factors in back pain, he demonstrates how many of his patients have then gone on to heal themselves without exercises or other physical therapy.Find out: Why self-motivated and successful people are prone to TMS; how anxiety and repressed anger trigger muscle spasms; how people 'train themselves' to experience back pain; how to get relief from back pain within two-to-six weeks by recognising TMS and its causes. With case histories and the results of in-depth mind- body research, Dr Sarno describes how patients recognise the emotional roots of their TMS and sever the connections between mental and physical pain... and how, just by reading this book, you may start recovering from back pain today.
