Fingers For Lunch

By Brandt Lewis
Illustrated by Cori Doerrfeld

  • Hardback
  • £6.99

The counting fun of Ten Little Ladybugs meets the irresistible character of Go Away, Big Green Monster and the giggle-inducing interactivity of Tickle the Duck

For lunch today I have a fine treat: five little fingers for Monster to eat!

In this silly playtime rhyme, young readers will burst into giggles as they fit their fingers through die-cut holes and make them wiggle and squirm while a hungry little monster tries to gobble up every last bite! Parents play the part of the monster and "eat up" their laughing little ones fingers, turning the pages to make the finger holes disappear one by one until there are no wigglers left!

There likely isn't a mom or dad on the planet who hasn't pretended to eat their toddler's fingers and toes, and Fingers for Lunch makes good, clean, but devilish fun of this favorite game. Little readers will be drawn to the bold, colorful illustrations and kid-friendly rhyming text, each page ending with fun sound words like "nibble" or "chomp" or "burp." And once all the fingers are gone, it's easy to start back at the beginning, this time with mom or dad's fingers in the holes--if they're willing to risk it!

What the Union of the North asks, they must give. Even their lives.Seventeen-year-old Revna is a factory worker, manufacturing war machines for the Union of the North. When she's caught using illegal magic, she fears being branded a traitor and imprisoned. Meanwhile, on the front lines, Linné defied her father, a Union general, and disguised herself as a boy to join the army. They're both offered a reprieve from punishment: use your magic in a special women's military flight unit, and undertake terrifying, deadly missions under cover of darkness. Revna and Linné can hardly stand to be in the same cockpit. But if they can't fly together, and they can't prove their worth to the war effort, they won't be safe from the consequences of their misdeeds. And if they can't find a way to fly well, the enemy's superior firepower will destroy them...if they don't destroy each other first. We Rule the Night combines the military intrigue and magic of the Grisha trilogy with the complex female wartime friendship of Code Name Verity.

J.K. Rowling

The Wizarding World journey continues . . .The powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald was captured in New York with the help of Newt Scamander. But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escapes custody and sets about gathering followers, most of whom are unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings. In an effort to thwart Grindelwald's plans, Albus Dumbledore enlists Newt, his former Hogwarts student, who agrees to help once again, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Illustrated with stunning line art from MinaLima with some surprising nods to the Harry Potter stories that will delight fans of both the books and films.

The true story of social media sensation Esther the Wonder Pig and her two dads that inspired the New York Times bestselling memoir for adults is now being told in a picture book with adorable illustrations and a message of love. When Steve and Derek adopted a mini pig named Esther, they had no idea that she would turn out to be not-so-mini after all. When her new family saw just how big and wonderful Esther really was, they fell in love--and their lives changed forever. Esther would soon grow too large for her bed, and their small apartment. She got into everything, including her neighbor's tasty garden. So the whole family moved from a small apartment to a big farm, where Esther and her animal friends could fit happily (and get into a little less mischief). Eventually, that farm would become the Happily Esther After animal sanctuary, home to rescued animals of all kinds.

Court of Fives

Kate Elliott
Authors:
Kate Elliott

Now available in paperback, World Fantasy Award finalist Kate Elliott's first young adult novel was praised by Kirkus for its "gripping, original plot; vivid, complicated characters; and layered, convincingly detailed world building."Jessamy's life is a balance between acting like an upper-class Patron and dreaming of the freedom of the Commoners. But away from her family she can be whomever she wants when she sneaks out to train for The Fives, an intricate, multilevel athletic competition that offers a chance for glory to the kingdom's best contenders. Then Jes meets Kalliarkos, and an improbably friendship between two Fives competitors--one of mixed race and the other a Patron boy--causes heads to turn. When Kal's powerful, scheming uncle tears Jes's family apart, she'll have to test her new friend's loyalty and risk the vengeance of a royal clan to save her mother and sisters from certain death. This imaginative escape into enthralling new lands weaves an epic story of a girl struggling to do what she loves in a society suffocated by rules of class and privilege.
