In The Good Husband of Zebra Drive we return to the No 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency in Botswana. Precious Ramotswe, the ample and good-natured owner and celebrated detective, is experiencing staffing problems and her relationship with her assistant, Mma Makutsi, has become somewhat strained. However, in spite of such difficulties, the work of the agency must continue and, in this eighth volume in the series, we encounter a number of very intriguing cases. A series of three unfortunate incidents has happened in a hospital - each on the same day of the week and at the same time. Mr J.L.B. Matekoni is also drawn into the work of the agency when he investigates a case involving an errant husband. But can a man investigate such matters with as much skill as one of the ladies? Mma Ramotswe has her doubts about this. One thing that she does not doubt is the good nature of Mr J.L.B. Matekoni, who stands for all that is solid and true in a shifting world - as indeed does Mma Ramotswe herself.
