Triumphant director Jamie Childs picked up the £2,500 prize having been chosen as the winner by Patricia Cornwell herself, who declared herself thoroughly impressed:
“I think The Transfer Tube by Jamie Childs is a fine piece of work that really captures the essence of my book and shows a great deal of imagination and flair.”
The competition to create a 20-second TV advertisement for the paperback release of Book of the Dead, published Thursday 17th April, received over 200 entries, with Jamie's becoming one of 6 to be shortlisted and presented to Patricia Cornwell by organisers Little, Brown Book Group, Five, M&C Saatchi and HYPtv.
Jamie was thrilled that his ad was chosen to run on Five and Five US for ten days from April 18th:
“The credibility of being recognised by experienced professionals means so much to me. It’s more important than the money, though I’m excited that the prize will help me complete the feature film I’ve been writing. Thank you for this fantastic opportunity.”
Little, Brown Book Group Marketing Executive Emma Williams was delighted by the standard of the entries:
“We wanted to create a unique and original marketing campaign suitable for the UK’s number one crime writer, Patricia Cornwell and firmly believe the winning entry will help us to achieve just that. We were incredibly excited by the sheer number of entries to the competition, the quality of which made the short listing stage extra tough. However Jamie’s short film stood out, it’s original and stylish, and we feel it captures the spirit of the reading experience perfectly.”
