BBC One is marking the 90th anniversary of the Armistice with a drama-documentary about Vera Brittain, presented by Jo Brand.
Called A Woman in Love and War, it is broadcast on BBC One on Remembrance Sunday at 5.45pm, and then available to watch on the BBCi player.
Brand will retrace Vera's journey through Britain and France, drawing on her letters and memoirs to show how the war affected ordinary families.
Intercut with Brand's journey will be dramatic reconstructions of events in Vera's life. Politician Shirley Williams, who is Vera's daughter, will also be giving her first major television interview on the subject.
The BBC says the 'heart-rending and vivid film... captures with poignant immediacy all the confusion, hope, agony and suspense of war as told through the eyes of a young woman in love'.
The programme airs as part of a season called 1918-2008: Ninety Years Of Remembrance, which runs until November 11th.
You can also read extracts from Because You Died, a collection of Vera's poetry and prose from the First World War, in this serialistaion in the Daily Telegraph.
