Eat, drink and try to be merry

Robin Cooper on the festive joys of the pickwinkle.

What is your favourite Christmas memory?

Eating chestnuts with lemon pickle while opening my presents. I got:

3 x gloves (pairs) (i.e. 6 individual ones

A book on horses

A peach

Watering can

Pickwinkle (think it was a pickwinkle, as it certainly looked like a pickwinkle)

Biscuits (x 24) (i.e. one packet containing 24 biscuits)

A pullover (navy) with the words 'Captain' written on it by the company that made the actual pullover

Aftershave (I never use the stuff!)

2. What is the worst present you’ve ever given or received?

Aftershave (I never use the stuff!)

Oh - and 40 pairs of scissors

3. What are your plans for this Christmas?

I shall be physically opening my presents. I do hope I like them!!

4. Are you giving any books as gifts this Christmas?

Yes. The Highway Code is probably the best book to buy, as it has so many uses. Well, one mainly, but still - Happy Christmas!

5. Is there a certain book which you’d love to receive this Christmas?

If there was a book written by someone (man or woman, I don't mind) that told me why I keep finding loose marbles in my shed, I would:

a) Like to shake his/her hand

b) Buy the book

c) Read the book

d) Deal with marbles

6. Any tips for surviving the festive period?

Eat, drink, eat again, and then after you have had a little lie down, try to be merry (and then eat a bit more!!!!)
