Race For Life

On Sunday, July 13th, a group of 12 women (myself included) from the Little, Brown Book Group offices will be running the Race for Life in aid of Cancer Research UK. Well, I say running. I mean, of course, varying forms of forward movement from start to finish, ranging from jogging to hauling one leg in front of the other, gasping for breath and wishing we’d trained more . . .  But enough about me!

Apart from Cancer Research UK being an extremely worthy cause to raise money for, it’s also an excellent opportunity for us to help raise awareness about cancer, and more specifically, breast cancer which affects 1 in 3 women, and is fatal in 15% of cases. These are really sobering figures – potentially of the 12 of us running, 4 of us could get cancer – and here at LBBG we wanted to do something to help fight this devastating disease in the name of women everywhere. As well as that, this month, we’re publishing Lopsided, a magnificent memoir by Meredith Norton, a woman whose fight again breast cancer is characterised by strength, humour . . . and exasperation with bloody Lance Armstrong!

It would be great if you could sponsor us for the run – so far we’re well on the way to reaching our target of £1000, but every penny helps. Here’s where you can sponsor us: http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/lopsided

And here’s the team!
