Feliz Navidad!

Josie Dew on cycling through Christmas

What is your favourite Christmas memory?

Cycling across a Mexican cactus desert when a battered pick-up swerves alongside containing two very padded and drunk Mexicans in the cab waving bottles of tequila and calling 'Feliz Navidad!' and asking whether the equally drunk gringo sprawled with his bicycle in the back is my amigo. He is but I pretend he isn't.

What is the worst present you’ve ever given or received?

Worst present I've been given: a high pressure bicycle pump that exploded in my face.

What are your plans for this Christmas?

Taking Molly (aged one-and-a-quarter) for a big bike ride in the snow.

Are you giving any books this Christmas?

I usually do a few last minute panic purchases.

What book would you most like to receive this Christmas?

A book token - they're much more packable in a pannier.

Any tips for surviving the festive period?

Cycle as far and as fast as possible away from anything festive.
